San Francisco, or San Pancho as it is referred to by locals, is a small fishing village of approximately 1,600 full-time residents that warmly welcome visitors. It is huddled by Sierra Mountains and jungle and a spacious pristine coast. San Pancho maintains its traditional Mexican roots and is an ideal getaway to a quiet and peaceful place. It has a wonderful beach with an amazing view of the ocean and promises to become the next big destination in Riviera Nayarit. The population of San Pancho is diverse as a growing number of expatriates move here from United States, Canada, Europe, and even southern parts of South America. The laid back way of life, lots of sunshine, beautiful coastal atmosphere, and nature attract tourists and snowbirds alike.

San Francisco has a number of restaurants, even some with haute cuisine.
There is a brimming art scene developing in San Pancho. There are a number of art exhibitions and events organized throughout the year by the art collective Colectivo San Pancho.
You can purchase some impressive Huichol handcrafts made by the locals.
San Francisco is also home to La Patrona polo club.
