Phone
Making calls within Mexico and long-distance is not difficult. You can purchase prepaid phone cards at a local supermarket for $30, $50, or $100 pesos. The following table shows how to dial to different areas of Mexico and US/Canada. Note that the country code for Mexico is 52 (if calling from outside of Mexico) and to call US/Canada, the country code is 001, when calling from Mexico.
Internet
You can very easily get access to the Internet to stay in touch with friends back home, update your social media page, or check out MeetMexico.com. 😉 Internet is available at nearly every hotel, bungalow, or rental. Or you can go to an Internet Cafe, called Ciber Cafe in Mexico (see-ber cafe). Ciber Cafes are common and charge around $20 pesos an hour.
Please be aware that some tourist destinations may experience unreliable Internet and cellphone network connection. These are the more secluded and smallest towns. However, the beauty and tranquility more than makes up for it. Still, most of these are a short distance from a covered area or an Internet cafe. Sometimes it feels good to disconnect from the world. The larger metropolitan and populated towns or cities and nearby areas have reliable Internet and cellphone coverage.
