Plaza de la Corregidora – This is another park in Centro Historico that has a statue built in honor to the wife of a magistrate that risked her life in order to warn the Mexican resistance army of an impending Spanish attack. Her husband had her locked in her room at the time, but she managed to pass a note through a keyhole. Her statue was erected for the centennial celebration of Mexico’s independence from Spain. In addition to the beautiful park with seating, flowers, and trees, there are more restaurants, cafes, and stores surrounding the park.
