Cancún is located on the Caribbean Sea coast of Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo (Keen-tah-nah Roh). It is at the north end of what is known as the Yucatán Peninsula, which is the area that separates the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea .
Cancún’s Hotel Zona, Zona Hotelera, is one of Mexico’s easternmost points and is just half-hour by car or bus from Riviera Maya, a stretch of resorts, to the south.
